Tacoma - June 13, 2012: Looking for something fun and FREE to do with your family? Bring them to Job Carr Cabin Museum, 2350 N. 30th St. on Saturday, July 21, and they can experience pioneer life first-hand through a variety of activities, crafts and demonstrations.
Job Carr Cabin Museum is hosting its 3rd Annual “Pioneer Days Festival” The FREE event features many fun hands-on activities and games for children, and traditional pioneer craft demonstrations and old-time music everyone can enjoy. The Festival begins at 11:30 am and runs until 4:30 pm in Old Town Park.
“When my grandson said he would rather skip lunch to spend more time at the Pioneer Festival, I knew we had found an annual family event!” said Kathleen B., a grandmother who brought her grandson to the Festival.
“This is one way we can expand our programs beyond the walls of the Cabin,” said board president Jason Kors, “celebrating the early years when Tacoma was still a very young city. It’s great fun, too!”
Along with the activities in the park, guided living-history tours of Old Town will start at the Cabin at 12:30, 1:00 and 1:30 pm. Tickets [$10] are required for this experience that will appeal to adults and older children. The tour will feature re-enactors portraying early residents of Old Town. The Job Carr Cabin Museum tells the story of Tacoma’s early years through the accounts of the Carrs [Job and his sons, Howard and Anthony]. The Museum is a replica of Job Carr’s log cabin, the first permanent home built in Tacoma.
