Day 1: Wake up rejuvenated at the Best Western PLUS Wesley Inn & Suites in Gig Harbor. Wander down to the lobby for your complimentary hot breakfast prior to our full day of activities.
We will begin the day discovering Gig Harbor’s maritime culture by touring the Harbor History Museum located on the waterfront in downtown Gig Harbor. Experience life in the late 1800s and early 1900s at the Midway School, located on the exact site on which it was built in 1893. Also climb aboard the Shenandoah, a 65-foot fishing vessel that is being actively restored.
For lunch this afternoon we will dine at a favorite of Puget Sound, Anthony’s at Gig Harbor. Known for its amazing seafood dishes and gorgeous waterfront dining views, you are in for a treat.
Following lunch we will embark on a charter boat tour of Puget Sound with Destiny Harbor Tours. Conveniently located next to Anthony’s at Gig Harbor, it is a simple walk to board the boat following your lunch. Choose from a variety of tours and see bald eagles, sea lions and harbor seals while passing Puget Sound landmarks such as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the shores of beautiful Point Defiance Park.
Once you are back on land take some time to go out on your own and experience the unique shopping opportunities throughout downtown Gig Harbor.
This evening we'll dine at a Gig Harbor institution, Tides Tavern. A favorite amongst locals and visitors alike, make sure to get a seat on the deck and try their renowned clam chowder. Soak in the views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier in the distance as you reflect on the day.
Day 2: Following your complimentary hot breakfast at the Best Western PLUS Wesley Inn & Suites in Gig Harbor we will switch focus to vehicles for the day.
We will start the day at the LeMay Family Collection Foundation at Marymount to view the private collection that was amassed by Pierce County recycling entrepreneur, Harold LeMay and his family over the years. The LeMay collection contains more than 1,500 vintage vehicles and a wide variety of additional collector memorabilia that will have you exploring the property for hours.
Next we will make our way into downtown Tacoma to visit the newest addition to the Tacoma Museum District, LeMay - America’s Car Museum. We will begin our tour with a lunch at Classics by Pacific Grill. Following lunch, take some time to explore the new, state-of-the-art 165,000 square foot museum that houses up to 350 cars, trucks and motorcycle from a variety of sources including private owners, corporations and the LeMay family’s personal collection. Late-night talk show host Jay Leno has visited this museum on several occasions.
Let’s tap into the microbrewing scene in Tacoma + Pierce County and take a quick ride to Wingman Brewers located just down the street from LeMay-America’s Car Museum. This microbrewery features a tasting room and an educational tour of their brewing process. They’re always developing new batches of brews so you’ll always have something new to taste when you visit.
This evening we’ll enjoy another waterfront dining experience at The RAM Restaurant & Brewery located on Tacoma’s picturesque Ruston Way! Sample their house-brewed beer while you relax and enjoy your meal, served with a side of incredible waterfront views.
