The 2013 featured garden speakers are Ciscoe Morris: “Great Plants with “Oh la la” Appeal!” on Thursday June 27th, 7:00 p.m.at Kensington Gardens; Riz Reyes: “Collector’s Plants for the Novice Gardener” on Saturday June 29th 2:00 p.m. at Sehmel Homestead Park.
The Gig Harbor Garden Tour is a two-day self guided event, showcasing outstanding gardens in the Gig Harbor area. The Gig Harbor Garden Tour has become the premier gardening tour in the Puget Sound area. The tour supports the Tacoma Community College Adult Basic Education Program in Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula, as well as the “Reach Out and Read” National reading program, and Communities in Schools.
The Pierce County Master Gardeners’ Demo Garden and Nature Trail at Sehmel Homestead Park will be one of the featured spots on this year’s tour. The Master Gardener Clinic will be open both days to answer gardening questions.
In addition to the two day tour, the Gig Harbor Garden Tour Committee also organizes the annual “Dig the Gig” dinner and auction event, this year scheduled for June 14th at Canterwood Golf and Country Club. The evening includes the annual hand painted Adirondack Chair raffle. Tickets are $50.
