Ornamented with towering blue glass sculptures that resemble that sugary rock candy on a stick, the Chihuly Bridge of Glass proves that Tacoma is serious about public art. The bridge, which connects the Museum of Glass to the museums and attractions on Pacific Avenue, is lined with exotic, playful glass art creations. The colorful and quirky pieces take on ambiguous organic forms, evoking an alien fruit-flower hybrid and seem to look down from their individual display cases like a collection of glass Muppets. Don't forget to look up and take in the ceiling’s kaleidoscopic aquarium of pastel sea anemones. Interpretation, of course, is in the eye of the beholder, so see for yourself.
