2026 calendar features dozens of festivals, concerts, fairs and only-in-Pierce-County events
TACOMA, Wash., May 28, 2026 — Summer does not happen in just one place in Pierce County. It arrives by steam train in Elbe, on horseback in Roy, aboard a racing handcar in Wilkeson and, occasionally, dressed as a slug in Eatonville.
Visit Tacoma-Pierce County’s 2026 Summer Magic calendar brings those experiences together, featuring more than 40 events in communities across the Pierce County lodging tax area. Launched in June and continuing into early fall, the calendar helps visitors discover festivals, concerts, markets, outdoor movies, fairs and longstanding local traditions throughout the region.
The lineup ranges from signature community celebrations such as Rhubarb Days in Sumner, the Buckley Log Show, Fircrest Fun Days and the Pierce County Fair in Graham to events rooted in the landscape, including the Rainier Music Festival in Ashford, Cirque Series at Crystal Mountain and steam train excursions from Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad.
Visitors can also find live music in Bonney Lake, Sumner and University Place; the Roy Pioneer Rodeo; the DuPont BBQ Cookoff; sunflower fields at Knutson Farms; and a full summer of wildlife programs at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. Selected events are featured each week on the Visit Tacoma-Pierce County homepage and through the Summer Magic advertising campaign.
“Summer in Pierce County does not wait for one big marquee weekend,” said Matt Wakefield, Chief Marketing and Data Officer at Visit Tacoma-Pierce County. “It rolls from rhubarb and rodeos to handcars, steam trains, concerts and mountain festivals. Summer Magic brings those wonderfully local traditions together so visitors can turn one event into a weekend and one community into the beginning of a longer trip.”
