Visit Tacoma-Pierce County + Pierce County is the new name of the Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau.

Aug. 4, 2014—Tacoma, Wash — Visit Tacoma-Pierce County + Pierce County is the new name of the Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau.

“This name really reflects who we are and what we do,” said President + CEO of Visit Tacoma-Pierce County + Pierce County Bennish Brown.

Visit Tacoma-Pierce County is the official destination marketing organization for Tacoma and Pierce County. It is charged with promoting Tacoma and surrounding cities in the county as a prime destination to leisure travelers, meeting planners, and tour group operators. Last year, visitors spent an estimated $981 million.

The name change comes as one of the final pieces of a larger retooling process that the organization has been undergoing since last July; a transition that included business model changes, a rebranding effort, and a new campaign — Fearless Exploration.

“We need to do everything we can to make ourselves easily remembered and recognized, ” Said Dan O’Leary, Chair of the Visit Tacoma-Pierce County Board, and General Manager of Silver Cloud Inn Tacoma.

This in another move that helps Tacoma and Pierce County keep pace with the industry trend of moving toward a simpler, less bureaucratic organizational brand.
