local photographer's photo chosen as winner
In late October, the TRCVB launched a month-long search for the best photographs of Tacoma + Pierce County from visitors and locals for the 2011 Fall Photo Contest.
The contest was open to entries that included images of the people, places, art or nature in our region. We were looking for images that captured the urban sophistication and outdoor adventure of Tacoma + Pierce County.
As an incentive to photographers, the TRCVB offered a ?Crystal Mountain Winter Getaway? prize package for the top photo. This package includes a one-night stay at Crystal Mountain Hotels, lunch for two at the Summit House and two tickets to ride the scenic Mount Rainier Gondola.
Through active social media posts and media outreach seeking submissions, the contest received more than 300 photo entries! Photos we received included scenic views of Mount Rainier, Tacoma Narrows Bridge, fall foliage, Puyallup Fair, Point Defiance Zoo + Aquarium, Tacoma Museum District and more.
Going through the hundreds of beautiful photos was a difficult task, and, after narrowing down to the top ten, a final vote declared the winner. Sharon Styer's photo of Ruston Way captured the essence of Pierce County and reflected where ART+ NATURE meet: the TRCVB's tagline.
