While Pierce County is no stranger to farm-fresh and locally sourced ingredients – after all, we’re in an agricultural and fishing hub – the South Sound’s newest restaurant focusing on sustainable ingredients opened yesterday in Gig Harbor: Table 47.
Located on the premises of Ocean5 in Gig Harbor’s Olympic Towne Center complex, the restaurant includes a Chef’s Counter for patrons to interact directly with the chefs, a full bar area and its own coffee house – the T47 Coffee Lounge.
The Table 47 menu is stacked with sharables (Dungeness Crab & Quinoa Cake, Hama Hama Clams, and Medjool Dates are a fair representation of the breadth of offerings), flatbreads and sampler boards. They also have a distinctly Northwest take on the usual salads (farm beet), burgers (Parallel Burger – beef chuck short ribs and mushroom + cheese curds and caramelized onion) and sandwiches (Cubano pork belly). Executive chef Ian Wingate – formerly of the Davenport Grand’s Table 13 in Spokane - makes ample use of the Pacific Northwest’s specialty catches and harvests, saying “This part of the world is like no other in the scope and variety of its native bounty.”
There are also plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options throughout that are far from relegated to small corners of the menu, as well as a full bar with a selection of craft cocktails, more than 40 Northwest wines and craft beer on tap.
