incentive for visitors to give back
The TRCVB has launched a new program as a way to drive more business to Tacoma + Pierce County. Voluntourism is the act of volunteering while you're a visitor. It can include anything from cleaning up local trails to helping with children's organizations.
Voluntourism is a great incentive for both business and leisure travelers, as voluntourists see the destination in a whole new way and are able to get much more out of their experience. It's a meaningful way to travel, and benefits not only the traveler, but also our local communities.
There are many different voluntourism opportunities in Tacoma + Pierce County for meeting planners and visitors to take advantage of. Some of these activities include: helping the Chambers Creek Foundation with area cleanups, doing cleanup work with Citizens for a Healthy Bay, working with students at the Hilltop Artists, helping maintain various Metro Parks properties and restoring pieces of history with the DuPont Historical Society or the Harbor History Museum.
Voluntourism is the perfect way for visitors to help make a difference, immerse in local culture, build camaraderie and have an educational experience.
Voluntourism activities are year-round and can be done by lone travelers or groups of all sizes.
