TACOMA, Wash. á¿? The motto for next month could well be May you have fun at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. There will be lots to see and do at the zoo during May, including some amazing new exhibits and some old favorites.

Heres a sampling of what visitors can experience at the zoo during May:

Stingray Cove Grand Opening, May 4:The all-new interactive Stingray Cove exhibit opens in the South Pacific Aquarium. Visitors will be able to touch a variety of stingrays as they swim by in specially designed tanks, their wings undulating in the clear water.

Stingray Cove also will be chock full of information about the animals and their kinship with sharks. Their barbs will be clipped, so touching them is perfectly safe, and staff members will be there to make the experience go smoothly. Free with zoo admission.

Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater opens, May 11: The exciting, fast-paced live-animal show Captain Adventure vs. Dr. Do-Nothing: The Quest to Get Outside! opens for the 2013 season. The show features a superheroine, a superdog, a dastardly villain, more than a dozen live animals and a number of zoo staff to entertain and inform children and adults alike. Captain Adventure vs. Dr. Do-Nothing has catchy music and an interesting plot that make the show fun for everyone. Free with zoo admission.

Half-price general admission for Moms, May 11: Moms get half-price general admission on the day before Mothers Day. A family outing is a gift of togetherness any mom would enjoy.

Budgie Buddies return, May 11: The popular and colorful Budgies are always fun to watch in their open-air, walk-through exhibit. Budgies, or budgerigars, are native to Australia. Visitors who want to feed them can do so by purchasing a seed stick for $1.
