with spring comes flowers + local produce
With spring just around the corner, I spent this past month working on two seasonal media pitches. The first pitch, "Explore Pierce County in Bloom," encourages visitors to spend a weekend on a floral tour. It features the area's public gardens and the best spots to see in bloom. The story highlights The Chase Garden in Orting, Lakewold Gardens in Lakewood and the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory in Tacoma. 
The pitch also encourages visitors to tour the abundance of daffodils in the Puyallup Valley and the Daffodil Festival in April. The spring-themed pitch was sent to magazine publications featuring stories on flowers and gardens which included Sunset magazine.

I also worked on a pitch called, "Farm Fresh Ingredients on the Menu." There is a growing trend to get food directly from the farm to your table and Pierce County is place where it can be done. We want visitors to know that Pierce County has easily accessible local foods. Locals and visitors alike can tour area farms like Wilcox, where they can learn about the farm's history and egg production. The pitch also featured Farmer's Markets and local foodie events around the county between April and October.

During March, I'll pitch culinary experiences from wine tasting and touring, to dining and northwest cuisine as well as outdoor adventure and epic hikes. If you have story ideas please share them using the comment feature below.
