As students and families hit the road (or the skies) for Spring Break, apparently affordability is on their minds...and apparently Tacoma has it. TripAdvisor’s vacation rental company, FlipKey, recently named Tacoma one of the “Ten Affordable Spring Vacation Spots You Don’t Have to Leave the Country to Visit.”
Listed alongside tried-and-true vacation hotspots such as Palm Springs, Calif.; Tampa, Fla. and Scottsdale, Ariz., Tacoma seemed like a relative newcomer, but was praised for its easy access to iconic Mount Rainier, as well as its world-class museums and exhibitions.
As the Pacific Northwest is increasingly seen as unaffordable for visitors, it seems would-be vacationers are finding it a pleasant surprise that there's still a waterfront city here that sits in the shadow of Mount Rainier and is filled with great museums, outdoor activities and top-notch craft beer...all for $653/week for a two-bedroom house rental.
